Space Cards

Ignite your child’s curiosity about all things astronomy with a collection of Space Cards. Each card features stunning coloured images of the Sun, our Moon, and all the planets in our solar system, including Pluto, which was recently downgraded from a planet to a planetoid or dwarf planet!

The cards also include simple yet interesting facts to spark discussion about our universe and the cosmic objects we can see in our skies.

Recommended age 3+. Includes 11 space cards, each approx. 10 x 14cm diameter. Made with 3mm sustainable plywood and comes in a linen drawstring bag.

Every piece of wood used is slightly different in colour, texture and grain with naturally occurring imperfections seen in the timber (e.g knots, colour changes, etc). These pieces of timber are cut on an engraver and will have slight burnt marks on the edges on some sides. The best way to keep these raw timber resources hydrated and well-nourished is with a natural oil or wax, like beeswax polish.

EDUCATIONAL APPLICATIONS

Individual

Place on a table with coloured large marbles that represent the planets and all things space. Let the child reinvent the scene.

Group Setting

One child holds a card behind their back, all other children can guess what planet it is by asking questions.

Outdoors

Have the children ask questions about each planet and see if they can find objects in nature to represent each planet i.e., colour, texture etc.

Learning Opportunities

A great visual tool, promotes vocabulary skills, offers fun and interesting facts about space. Teaches basic concepts like day night, the moon, the sun, and the planets.
